FAQ – Where can I get the meningitis (meningococcal conjugate) vaccine?

Instructions for people with health insurance:

1. Call member services for your health insurance.  Ask where you can go to get the meningococcal [muh-ning-goh-KOK-kal] conjugate vaccine or MenACWY vaccine, Menactra® or Menveo®, including names of local in-network pharmacies where the shot will be covered by your insurance.

2.    Call your doctor or local pharmacy, and ask:

·        Do you have the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY) in stock?
OR  use the HealthMap Vaccine Finder (select “Meningococcal” under Vaccines and look for “MenACWY” in the list of vaccines under the pharmacy names) to find a pharmacy in your area that offers the vaccine. You will still need to call the pharmacy to make sure it has the vaccine in stock.

·        When is the best time to come in?

3.    Go to the clinic or pharmacy and get vaccinated!

Instructions for people without health insurance:

1.    Call your local health department. (Find number at: http://bit.do/immunization.)

2.    Ask the local health department where to get low or no cost meningococcal [muh-ning-goh-KOK-kal] conjugate vaccine (MenACWY) in your area.

3.    Get vaccinated!
